Read Japanese on any screen, with the readings and meanings
Japanese is written without spaces and verbs change their endings. Yona picks the most likely words in a sentence, turns conjugated forms back into the dictionary word, and shows the reading so you can learn kanji as you read.
What Yona does for Japanese
Conjugated words resolve
行って, 食べました and 見ていた all lead back to 行く, 食べる and 見る, with the form you met shown on the card.
Alternatives for kana
Long kana runs can be cut in more than one way. Yona shows the other possible words, so わたし can be わたし, and a wrong cut is easy to spot.
Readings, and furigana left out
Words show their reading. When a picture already has furigana printed above the kanji, the reader leaves those small characters out of the text.
Parts of long words
A long word can show the words inside it, as a short list or in detail. You choose how much.
