Chinese has no spaces, so a normal dictionary can not tell where one word ends. Yona cuts the text into words for you, shows the pinyin and the meaning, and lets you save the word with the sentence it came from.

Words, not single characters
Text is cut into the longest real dictionary words (咖啡店 is one word, not three characters), so you look up what you actually read.
Pinyin with tones
Every word shows its pinyin with tone marks and its English meanings.
Subtitles, comics and pictures
The extension reads burned-in subtitles, scanned pages and screenshots on your device and puts a tappable square over each word.
Review what you saved
Saved words go into lists and come back with spaced repetition, with stats on how well you remember them.

Questions
Does Yona work with simplified and traditional Chinese?
The dictionary comes from CC-CEDICT, which lists both forms of each word, and the on-screen reader recognizes both kinds of text.
Does it send my text to a server?
No. Lookup, reading text from the screen and review all run on your device.
